The Wali Haii, as its name suggests, has a bit of a Hawaiian theme. The back of the stage area features a colourful montage of a beach scene with hula dancers, complete with a smoking volcano in the distance!
Despite this, the bar is out-and-out British. It is billed, on the sign outside as a "Cocktail Bar", but that, obviously, is referring to the evenings.
During the day, it serves food, in the shape of breakfasts and lunches. It is family-friendly and offers table service, plus the option of alfresco dining on a small outside terrace.
Come the evening time, food service stops and the accent then is, understandably, on drinks, as the nightly party atmosphere gets underway.
There are experienced bartenders on hand to prepare all manner of exotic cocktails, plus all the usual array of other drinks.
This bar, in the evenings, is primarily a karaoke bar and the proceeding are hosted by two different comperes.
The main compere is "Titch" Cooper. He mans the fort Thursdays to Mondays and can be relied upon to bring his zany humour to bear, telling jokes, clowning around and generally insulting his audience. He also runs fun games, such as "Play Your Cards Right".
The other two nights, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, your compere is Ray Wilde, plus his sidekick Matty.
The Wali Haii does present guest cabaret, three nights a week. From around 10pm, you should be able to see quality acts on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
