The Stage Door - the entertainers' bar!

Tucked away unobtrusively in a corner of The Patch is this unique bar.

It is, theoretically, a "members only" club, restricted to anyone in the entertainment business. I have to say, in all the times I've visited it, this rule is not strictly adhered to.

It is quite a small place, a single roughly square room, but what makes it unique is the fact that it is where a lot of Tenerife's entertainers gravitate to at the end of the evening, when they've finished work.

All around the walls there is a gallery of prominent Tenerife entertainers, past and present. There is a small, raised dias in one corner, serving as a stage, with a PA system and, should any of the acts present wish to get up and do an impromptu spot, they can!

Back in the late 90s when I used to go in, the place was run by a chap called Ray, together with his wife/partner/girlfriend/friend Jade (never did find out which) and there's a good chance they'll still be there now. Ray quite often had a few tips for me on where there were jobs in the offing, so it was always useful to pay him a visit.

The bar is open from late till very, very late. To find it, start walking down the Patch area towards the ocean, keeping on the left hand side.

When you come, quite soon, to the first set of steps leading to the first floor, make a U-turn round them and, doubling back on yourself, walk straight on (passing under these steps). You'll see the entrance in front of you.
