tenerife beaches arico
This quite large municipality has a handful of beaches, of various degrees of quality.
Playa de La Punta de Abona
Just south of Poris de Abona, you'll find this area. Although designated a "beach", it's really just a flat, rocky area where the sea laps in.
Playa Grande
Further south to Punta de Abona, we finally arrive at a half-decent beach. This is a quite presentable crescent of golden(-ish) sand. It's situated in a non-tourist area, so, while being used by residents for sunbathing and swimming, it's never likely to be particularly crowded.
Playa de Abades
Next along the coast we arrive at the small town of Abades. The beach attached to it is quite an attractive one, with nice, golden sand. Like the previous one, it's not particularly commercialised and is never too crowded.
Playa de Tajao
Although the village of Tajao shows some signs of commercialisation, the "beach" doesn't quite come up to scratch. A stretch of grey sand and rocks, it doesn't look particularly inviting.
Playa de La Caleta
The small village of La Caleta, further down the Arico coast, boasts a tiny inlet with grey sand and rocks, where the sea laps in gently. It's usually deserted.
