Restaurante Tajinaste - a superb restaurant with amazing views

Search This Site

After a few management changes and being named "The Clubhouse" for a time, Restaurante Tajinaste has abandoned its live music programme and now functions as an out and out quality eatery.

Tucked away in the hills a few minutes' drive out of Los Gigantes, it nestles in a countryside setting, well away from the bustle of the neighbouring town. The terrace area, due to this location, boasts amazing views of Los Gigantes and neighbouring island, La Gomera.

Managed by Samantha and Nathan, it offers a superb dining experience.

Since its rebranding, Restaurante Tajinaste has become more upmarket, regarding the decor and the surroundings in which you dine. On offer is both lunch and dinner.

Dishes on offer generally consist of those ubiquitous ones you'd find on any quality menu. Thus, you'll find such things as prawn cocktail, pate or garlic mushroom starters, beef tenderloin, beef wellington, chicken supreme and steak - plus, especially for Brits, cod and chips. Desserts feature lemon meringue, apple pie and profiteroles.

There is also a separate menu for kids up to 11 years. For only 7.50 euros, your offspring can choose from such items as spaghetti bolognese and cheese burger. For drinks, children are well catered for, too, with a selection of non-alcoholic cocktails.

Despite its out-of-the-way location, this venue has always been very popular, so if you want to be sure of a table, it's best to reserve one. There's a reservation form on the restaurant's website.

Here's how to find this elusive venue.

You need to be on the TF-454 Tamaimo road, which can be accessed from the TF-47 coast road from Las Americas to Los Gigantes.

The Tamaimo road is climbing and winding and you should watch out for a road, off to the right, which is more like a right fork. Take this and descend onto a tiny village. Watch out for the church on your left, then turn left just past it.

You'll be on a narrow country lane and you should watch out for the Clubhouse, slightly raised up, on your right. There's no sign, but you should be able to see the umbrellas on the terrace.
