restaurante don pelayo tenerife
The cuisine of this restaurant is of the region of Asturias, an area on the north coast of mainland Spain.
Situated in an enviable location in the centre of Santa Cruz, this eatery provides a perfect place to enjoy a superb meal in ambient surroundings.
The management team Joseph and Vincent have created a very pleasant dining area, with rustic touches. Rich dark wood contrasts with the pristine white tablecloths and pictures representing the Asturian region decorate the walls.
As the restaurant's main dining room seats only 50 people, this makes for an agreeable, intimate environment. There is another, separate private room, seating a further 20.
Many of you will probably be unfamiliar with Asturian cuisine. I've taken a look at the menu and here are some of the more, let's say, unusual items on it.
Burgos black pudding, Madrid-style tripe, asparagus with sea urchin caviar, mixed paella with black rice and fried Asturian beans with clams.
Of course, you can choose from the more obvious things that you'd find on a menu - all different types of seafood and a comprehensive selection of meats. Indeed, the restaurant has been complimented on its Asturian pork and bean stew.
A whole host of desserts are available, too, along with a superb wine cellar where you can choose the best vintage to accompany your meal.

Don Pelayo is found on Calle Benavides, which is off the major thoroughfare, Rambla General Franco. Begin from the open green area Parque Garcia Sanabria. Go left along the dual carriageway from there. Watch out for a smart, pink building on your left, called Villa Valencia. Just after this, there is a fork in the road, leading off to the left. Take this and, eventually, you'll see the restaurant on the right.
