restaurante asador neke
Situated up into the countryside just outside La Laguna, this clean, modern Spanish restaurant offers superb views over the town and also the north airport of Los Rodeos.
Originally a country house, the building was completely refurbished and modernised to produce this very agreeable venue for an excellent Spanish meal.
"Asador", in Spanish, means something like "roasthouse" and, indeed, this eatery specialises in roast meat. Its influences are Castilian and Basque cuisine and all the dishes are prepared with style and flair.
The building is divided into two rooms. The main room, the restaurant itself, is characterised by simple, uncluttered decor - an ideal place to dine. There is seating for up to 110 people. Quite separate from this is "La Tasca" (Spanish for "pub"), which, as the name suggests, is a bar, with seating for some 50 people.
In addition, there is the outside terrace, where you may dine al fresco, whilst taking in the superb views.
Sample dishes on offer include salmon rolls that have been marinated in mustard and served with cream cheese and mango sauce, shrimp and spinach pancakes, sirloin of venison with raspberry coulis, honeyed cod served with black potatoes, roast suckling pig and all manner of steaks.
Be assured that all these dishes will be prepared and presented to gourmet standard.
However, despite what you may be thinking after reading that, Asador Neke is also totally child-friendly! There is a children's menu and, in the restaurant grounds, you'll find a children's play area.
After your meal, "La Tasca" comes into its own, as an ideal place to move to for enjoying a brandy and a fine cigar.
All in all, a fine eatery in an enviable location.

To find it, you need, initially, to be on the TF-5 north motorway. From the Santa Cruz direction, exit at junction 11, which puts you onto TF-152, a road running parallel to the motorway. You need, then, to watch out for a sign for the restaurant, turning off to the right - but be vigilant, it's right behind a huge traffic sign! Take this road, leading you up in the countryside and you'll soon see the restaurant on the left.
