This is a five-star restaurant to be found in Puerto de la Cruz. Founded in 1986, it is named after one of the proprietors, who, together with his brother, Jesus Manuel, bought the old house in which it is situated and carefully restored it to its former glory.
The restaurant is centered round an open courtyard, packed with greenery and featuring a fountain, in the midst of which are the dining tables with pristine settings.
Surrounding this, on the first floor, are traditional Canarian balconies, where there is more room for dining.
Although Senor Regulo has now retired, Jesus Manuel still continues to run the establishment, along with his daughter, Marta. They both strive to continue the tradition of excellent food in perfect surroundings.
Cuisine is essentially Canarian, with international overtones. Noteworthy on the menu are sauteed octopus with potatoes, fried shrimp and cod balls, scallop and asparagus tartlet stuffed with prawns and salmon and prawn rolls.
As can be surmised from this, the restaurant specialises very much on seafood. The commitment is to bring you the very freshest ingredients. Indeed, it is possible that a waiter will bring a platter of freshly caught fish to your table (still alive!) for you to choose the one you want.
The waiting staff are very friendly and attentive and, on being seated, you'll be presented with a complimentary aperatif and warm bread while you peruse the menu.
Even though the portions for each dish are quite substantial, this is not reflected in the prices. Fair enough, they may be a little more expensive than other, less prestigious restaurants, but are by no means extortionate.
This restaurant is recommended by the Michelin guide and also various hotels in the area.
