The Ramon el Caminero campsite is found amongst the pine trees not far south of La Orotava, in the north of the island.
It is another of those that is simply a clearing in the trees, with no amenities to speak of.
So, you'll find that there is no running water, no toilets, no showers and no disabled access.
What it boils down to is, you turn up, pitch your tent and then fend for yourself. At least, within this recognised camping area, you'll be doing it legally!
The campsite manager is based at the Casa Forestal de Aguamansa and he can be contacted on (+34) 922 330701.
The site covers some 5,000 square metres and there are car parking facilites.
Of course, even though there are no amenities, you'll still find the obligatory "recreation area", with the usual opening hours of up to 7pm in winter and 9pm in summer.
To find this campsite, you need to be on the TF-21 road out of La Orotava.
This winds on for a good while, eventually passing through the village of Aguamansa.
After this, the road begins to climb and eventually enters the forest area, with pine trees on either side. At this point, you need to watch out for a big sign, on the left. It features a large letter "P" on a yellow background and you should turn left there.
Follow this road and you'll eventually see a collection of vehicles parked on a hairpin bend. The campsite is there.
Unusually for one of these sites, it can also be accessed by bus. Number 345 will take you there.
