The Irish Fiddler is an Irish pub that ticks all the appropriate boxes associated with "Irishness". When you walk through the doors, you are greeted with a typically Irish warm welcome. The Irish hospitality continues throughout your visit, when you can enjoy authentic Irish food from the menu and, come the evening, be entertained by authentic Irish music.
This friendly pub is a family-run business. Your hosts Gerard and Noeline moved to Tenerife from Kilkenny in the mid-80s and have since established a very popular, successful bar.
There is an authentic, Irish interior, which is air conditioned - and soundproofed! Quite unusual for a Tenerife bar, this soundproofing was carried out so the noise of the revelry inside (and it can be considerable) doesn't affect the bar's neighbours. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can sit on the large outside terrace and watch the world go by.
The bar is open during the day and doors open at 11am. As well as the "full-English" breakfast, you can, naturally, choose the Irish breakfast option, plus, for good measure, a traditional Scottish one, too. Other food is on offer throughout the day.
The Irish Fiddler is renowned as a sports bar and has a collection of no less than eleven TVs dotted about the place, including a huge projection screen and a plasma screen. All major sporting events are shown, including the GAA Gaelic football matches. The bar also has an allegiance with Celtic football club and welcomes fans of that team.
Live entertainment kicks off at 9:30pm and the current resident musicians (as far as I know) are the "Plastic Paddys". I can't find any other information on these musicians, not even how many of them there are. What I do know is that they play loads of traditional Irish music. Don't be surprised if you find yourself up on your feet, dancing an Irish jig!
The bar is found by going along the main Avenida de EspaƱa running through San Eugenio. Watch out for two bars on opposite sides of a road branching off this - St Eugen's and the Temple Bar. The Irish Fiddler is next door to the Temple Bar, on its right.
A bar that is totally family-friendly and guarantees a great night out.
