fundacion restaurant tenerife
Situated bang in the centre of Santa Cruz is this very upmarket restaurant.
Occupying a traditonal Canarian house dating from the 18th century, it's prestige means that it is popular amongst the Santa Cruz "elite".
The venue is arranged on two levels. The upper floor is the restaurant itself, with formal dining. The ground floor houses a more informal tapas bar.
Restaurant manager, Jose Aguirre, keeps his dining area in pristine condition. There are several sections, all adorned with immaculate table settings, which contrast quite nicely with the rural style of the decor.
The head chef, Cristo Izquierdo, has his own, inimitable style, managing to combine traditional methods with daring avant-garde creations.
Ever the perfectionist, he is, nevertheless, not afraid to experiment - and the results are always delicious.
Examples of the restaurant's signature dishes include roast duck with papaya compote, pork loin glazed with Palma honey and beef carpaccio.
All of these gastronomic delights can be accompanied by an excellent wine from the restaurant's extensive cellar.

This restaurant is situated on Calle Imedlo Seris, which is a narrow, one-way street off the Plaza Weyler (where the British Consulate is). I warn you, though, it's right down at the other end.
You could always catch the tram (linea 1), getting off at the Teatro Guimera stop. On getting off the tram, turn left and just keep straight on. You'll soon come to the restaurant.
