Fu Xin Chinese Restaurant - small in size but big in quality

The Fu Xin Chinese restaurant in Los Cristianos has now become our newest favourite eatery. (Before you get too excited, it's pronounced "Foo Zin".) When we visited Tenerife in June 2018, we discovered that the poolside bar on our complex had closed. So, we decided to venture out and visited the Fu Xin, a place we had sometimes had a takeaway from in the past. We weren't disappointed.

Fu Xin Chinese restaurant, Los Cristianos, Tenerife

Although quite small and intimate, it offers all the standard Chinese dishes, cooked to perfection. On the two occasions we visited, we had the same thing: the Special Banquet for two people. For €16.50 per person (NB, this price is from a few years ago - it's likely to be considerably more in 2023), you get chicken and sweetcorn soup (although we asked if we could have hot and sour soup instead, which they agreed to), a spring roll, spare ribs in Capitol sauce, half a crispy duck with pancakes and two main dishes - king prawn with mushrooms and chicken in black bean sauce, accompanied by egg fried rice. You can imagine how good it was by the fact that we had it both visits.

Each of our visits was quite early in the evening, so we had no trouble getting a table. If you leave it till later, it's likely that the place will be full and you'll have to wait till a table becomes free. There is no action by the waiting staff to hurry things along for your benefit, so it is a really good idea to make a telephone reservation.

The Fu Xin used to have a nice offer, in that, if your order comes to over €18, you get a free bottle of the house wine. Unfortunately, they no longer do this, which is a shame. The restaurant also used to offer free delivery for takeaway orders over €10, which, on out latest visit, in March 2023, they no longer do, although you can phone your order in, then call in to collect it.

All in all, a very pleasant dining experience.

To find the Fu Xin, aim for the Arona Gran Hotel, down the hill from the traffic lights in the town centre. Once past the mini roundabout, there is a line of restaurants and bars on the left. The restaurant is along there.
