With the bar Crystals Palace, outrageous drag artiste Crystal Starr has found a new venue to showcase her comedic talents.
A legend of Tenerife, Crystal has had, over the years, a major association with the Wigan Pier bar at Starco (which is now closed down). She's had time on the cabaret circuit and briefly ran her own venue, Crystal Starr's Blaydon Races.
Displaying characteristic resilience, she's now back with a vengeance, having, once again, her own bar, Crystals Palace.
I'm afraid this is going to be quite a brief page for the moment, until I can gather more information on the venue. For now, I'll tell you what I know.
The venue is situated on The Patch, the collection of bars, shops and restaurants in Playa de Las Americas. It occupies the premises that was once Flanagan's Bar and, if I'm not mistaken, also, briefly, the Jazz Rock Cafe. I think it's on the left as you walk down towards the sea, down some stairs that take you below street level.
Despite this, it has, apparently, a nice, open-air courtyard.
The format of the night's entertainment is pretty much the same as it has been at any of Crystal's previous venues - why change a winning formula? Hosted by Miss Starr (and expect to be picked on if you're within her line of sight), there are a couple of cabaret acts featured.
The one review, to date, on TripAdvisor, states that you are made most welcome and there is a brilliant atmosphere.
That's all I have for you at the moment, I'm afraid. At least those fans of Crystal Starr will now know where to find her.
