The Chieftain Bar Tenerife is yet another Irish bar gracing the town of Playa de Las Americas, found in a prime centre location.
Open all day, it serves food, including, according to reports, superb breakfasts.
The menu is not that extensive, but meals served are always high in quality.
With a nice outside terrace with smart seating and sunshades, it is a good spot to enjoy an afternoon drink and indulge in people watching.
In the early evening, the bar's TV screens will display all your favourite UK TV programmes.
As the evening gets underway, the entertainment will finally start. It is at this point that the bar shows its Irishness, because music featured is all of the traditional Emerald Isle variety.
I have to say, it's proved difficult finding out up-to-date information as to who is performing there. I'll tell you what I know, but it might have changed by now.
It is possible that the bar still features Tommy Mahoney every night. Tommy sings and plays guitar, but also often has the audience in stitches with his clowning about and jokes.
It may be that the bar is still visited by guitar/vocalist Terry Bury. He is one half of the duo "Celtic Tigers" and continues the traditional Irish musical tradition of the bar.
I have also found information on another website saying that "Mary B" and "Paul Gallagher" also perform there.
At any rate, whoever is performing, I reckon you'll be guaranteed a great night.
To find the Chieftain, start from the landmark of the Las Palmeras Hotel. With the hotel on your left, walk along the partially pedestrianised walkway for a couple of minutes till you come to a major T-junction (green and white poles in the road).
Turn right here and walk up the slight incline till you reach another main road, leading off to the right. Turn up there and you will soon arrive at the bar, on the left.
