Bahia del Duque - the jewel of Adeje

The Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque Resort, to give it its full name, is built right onto the beautiful beach of El Duque. Its design is based on Canarian architecture of the 19th Century and is adorned with a variety of colours, looking like something from a fairy tale.

Constructed in the form of a village surrounded by subtropical gardens, the guest houses are interspersed with patios and squares.

Swimming pools on different levels are joined by waterfalls, that cascade down to the beach.Bahia del Duque boasts an extensive selection restaurants and leisure activities.

Rooms

There are deluxe rooms, with garden view and premier rooms, with sea view, distributed amongst 21 houses. All double rooms, with sitting and working area.

Junior Suites can be either twin-bedded or double king size. All have a balcony or terrace with superb views of either the Atlantic Ocean or the lush hotel gardens.

Suites are large enough to accommodate a family and have one or two rooms with separate bathroom and sitting room. All have balcony or terrace.

Family suites are the biggest, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a separate living room. Some have a jacuzzi in the garden.

Finally, accommodation at the Bahia del Duque turns self-catering, with its villas. These are either one room/one bath or two room/two bath, each with large living room/dining room and kitchen. All the villas have their own garden and swimming pool.

Restaurants

Bahia del Duque boasts no less than eight restaurants, each providing different services.

El Bernegal provides buffet service, both indoors and outside, on a terrace. A full breakfast menu is also available daily.

Las Aguas Restaurant, is found within the Villa area of the resort. With a Michelin Star chef in the kitchen, it is a premier eating place with five-star food and quality wine.

International cuisine is represented, with the French fare of La Brasserie, and Italian at La Trattoria.

The Beach Club specialises in sea food, fish and Mediterranean style cuisine, situated beside the main swimming pool.

At La Tasca, the food is traditional Spanish and there is live Spanish guitar music to complement your meal.

In La Casa del Lago, you'll find traditional Canarian food, plus a diverse selection of fresh fish, whilst La Hacienda provides a choice of food from across the world, with a distincty Latin flavour.

Leisure Amenities

Due to its size, Bahia del Duque is able to offer a huge array of various leisure activities.There are five swimming pools in total, three fresh water and two sea water. For a bit of retail therapy, visit the shopping gallery and mall near the hotel. There is also an Internet cafe and an astronomical observatory.

Within the hotel, you'll find a bridge and billiards room, 2 tennis courts, a squash court, 2 paddle courts, jogging circuit, botanical walk, beach volleyball, archery, darts, ping pong, boule, giant chess, gym, mountain biking, aqua gym, aerobics, pilates, dance classes, painting, crafts, cocktails and cuisine, body sculpting and steps, plus the services of a personal trainer.

There is exclusive access to an 800 meter beach, where you can indulge in hang gliding, jet ski, parascending, diving, windsurfing, sailing, water ski, deep sea sport fishing and whale watching.

For families, there is a babysitting service and the "Mini Club", providing activities for children from 3-12 throughout the day.

The hotel is big on tennis and has its own tennis school with professional coaches.
