44 regent street tenerife
Tucked away inside the Sunset Harbour complex in the Torviscas area of Las Americas is this British-run, self-styled cafe/restaurant/show bar.
Intended primarily, I suppose, to cater for the needs of residents of the complex, it nevertheless welcomes people from off the street.
Open seven days a week, it offers dining right through from breakfasts to evening meals.
The restaurant opens at 9am (8am Fridays) and serves breakfasts until 2pm (midday Sundays). The daytime menu lasts through till 7pm and there is an evening menu 6pm till 10pm.
Also very popular at 44 Regent Street are the Sunday roasts, served midday till 10pm - so much so it's a really good idea to book a table in advance.
Come the evening, the venue adopts a cabaret bar persona, so that, along with your meal, you can enjoy the entertainment.
In charge is resident compere Shaun Carling and he runs all sorts of games and quizzes. One popular game is called "Sticky 13", where it is possible to win up to 200 euros.
Even though Shaun has Fridays off, the venue features guest cabaret every night of the week. At 10pm, a selection of Tenerife's top acts take to the stage.
I imagine that the bar/restaurant is extremely family-friendly and, judging from comments on numerous forums, the Brits who run the place are professional, friendly and always give you the warmest of welcomes.
To find Sunset Harbour, follow the main road through Torviscas, Avenida Ernesto Sarti and turn down Calle Valencia, which takes you down towards the beach. Follow this as far as it will go and the complex is there.
