Motown Diner Tenerife - British and American food, plus great entertainment

In 2008, a bar that used to be called "Motown Magic" was taken over by new management and completely refurbished, finally opening its doors under the new name "Motown Diner".

The "Motown" connection has been retained and the "diner" name implies another connection with the US.

What we have now is a restaurant offering both British and American classic dishes.

From fish and chips and steak and ale pie to plump US burgers and tasty barbecued spare ribs, both sides of the Atlantic are well represented.

The beauty of this place, too, is that prices are unbelievably reasonable.

Food is available all day, up to around 9:30pm and the restaurant offers breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

To help save you money, there is a special lunchtime offer of pizza with coleslaw and chips for just 3.99 euros.

Drinks are cheap, as well. You can get yourself a pint of lager for 1.50 euros, or a glass of house wine for 2 euros. A comprehensive selection of cocktails is also on offer.

The restaurant prides itself on only using the freshest ingredients and all meals are cooked to order.

You'll find that the staff are very welcoming, friendly and attentive. Many holidaymakers return to it day after day, the quality of the food being as much of an incentive as the prices.

As if all this wasn't enough, the Motown Diner, come evening time, turns into a showbar.

At around 8:30, the resident compere kicks things off by singing a few songs then running a quiz. Thereafter, there is a karaoke session.

By about 10pm, it's time for the guest cabaret and the venue always makes sure to feature only Tenerife's top acts.

With the name of the restaurant, as you'd expect, acts are all tributes to the great names of Motown, such as the Drifters, the Four Tops, the Temptations and Marvin Gaye.

After the cabaret, karaoke resumes and things carry on until very late.

The restaurant is open all day, every day and whatever time you go, you'll be assured of a good time.

To find it, you need to get yourself onto the beachfront at Fañabe, by taking any of the roads or walkways leading towards the ocean from the main road through the area. Once on the seafront, you'll soon spot the bar.
