Austrian Airlines also allow a small pet to be transported in the cabin with you, provided it is in a secure, leak-proof container, which must be small enough to fit under the seat. The weight of the animal plus the container must not exceed eight kilos. It is up to you to provide the container. Larger animals must be transported in the cargo hold, which is air conditioned and heated (fortunately, for your pet!). Once again, the provision of the container is your responsibility and you must inform the airline of its dimensions and weight, so that they can verify that they have enough room on board.
Guide and assistance dogs are carried free of charge and may travel in the cabin. You still have to book them in advance, though.
