Austrian Airlines Pets Policy

Naturally, Austrian Airlines Pets Policy requires you to have met all the legal requirements and animal welfare regulations outlined on the main "Pets" page.

You do have to notify the airline at the time of your booking that you wish to travel with your pet. They will verify that everything is in order for you to do this and get back to you asap.

Austrian Airlines also allow a small pet to be transported in the cabin with you, provided it is in a secure, leak-proof container, which must be small enough to fit under the seat. The weight of the animal plus the container must not exceed eight kilos. It is up to you to provide the container.

Larger animals must be transported in the cargo hold, which is air conditioned and heated (fortunately, for your pet!). Once again, the provision of the container is your responsibility and you must inform the airline of its dimensions and weight, so that they can verify that they have enough room on board.

Prices are charged in accordance with excess baggage rates.

For Flights Within Europe (including Tenerife)

Guide and assistance dogs are carried free of charge and may travel in the cabin. You still have to book them in advance, though.
