Television?!

Hi,

My parents have a place in Los Gigantes which I have been to quite a few times, although only with friends not with my children!

I am now thinking about bringing the kids for Christmas for a week and although I don't expect them to be sitting watching TV the whole time we're there, there may be times when I would quite like them to "chill in front of the TV"!

There is a TV in the apartment but with no English channels. As we only visit Tenerife half a dozen times a year I wondered what your advice would be as to the best way of getting a few English channels?? To be honest we're not that bothered about the sport, just a few channels to keep the kids amused would be fine. I have read your article all about the different options but must admit got very confused by the end. Can you help me at all?? I don't think Sky would be an option as we are already sky customers in the UK!

English TV in Tenerife

We have had English TV in our community in Los Cristianos for about 5 years, however the programmes (all except ITV1) now break up around 9pm and resume around 10pm. Last year our supplier said we needed a bigger dish so the community paid for a bigger dish. Now the supplier says we have water in the cables (only between 9and 10pm?). He has suggested that we all get our own digiboxes.

However other communities round about are not suffering from picture breakup. I can understand the loss of signal when it is raining but not in the weather we are having at the moment.
So can anyone suggest what the problem might be and how it can be overcome?

DVD Problem

We have an apartment on a complex in Las Americas. The DVD recorder we have has a fault on the hard drive so we can no longer record. Went to buy a replacement only to find you can no longer buy them, because all the TVs are now smart TVs. Do you know a solution to this problem?

Staying in Parque del Sol, for 2 weeks, we watched a bit of U.K. TV. Just wondered why there is this irritating commentary on some of the programmes?
