SAS pets policy states that, although, on some flights, animals are allowed to travel in the cabin (subject to the size of the pet), this does not apply to flights from the UK or Ireland. Your pet must travel in the cargo hold and it is advisable to book the cargo space first before booking your own flight.
Pets are only carried as cargo from the UK on weekday flights departing before 1pm.
When booking your pet's cargo space, you need to know the dimensions of the crate it will be travelling in, to facilitate the calculation of the price - and to ensure there is enough room on the aircraft.
SAS have their own range of crates that can be purchased from some airports and cargo offices.
If you decide to use your own crate, it must comply with the conditions outlined on the main "Pets" page.
It is possible to put two adult animals of comparable size and up to 14kg each, or up to three young animals (under six months) from the same litter in the same container.
Price
There is a charge, valid within Europe, of 60 euros per crate. The container's dimensions can be up to a maximum of 62 inches. Any larger and a second 60 euros will be payable.
Flights from the UK and Ireland incur different charges. You need to phone the relevant cargo office.
