Hi, and thanks for this beautiful Information Centre you built. I live in Italy where I work as a singer and a singing instructor/vocal coach both privately and for a musical theatre company. I'm planning to move there permanently with all my family and I'm looking for job opportunities as a musician. I've been there several times, especially to Los Cristianos/Costa Adeje. I met some other Italians who live there and they gave me their contacts to help me as they can. I'm thinking of moving there seriously and I'm building a step-by-step path to reach this goal. I've tried to contact some agencies but they gave me no answer, up to today. Can you help me in any way by giving me some other contacts, or places to go directly bringing with me my bio? I can fly there whenever I want without any problem, seeing as this is a job investment for me. Let me know, and thanks in advance.

The Cost of Living and Working in Tenerife

I am currently working on a costing schedule for a tender to do tourism research in Tenerife. I have been scouring the internet for information on prices, and have seriously been struggling. Could you please provide me with an idea of how much the following things should cost:

1. accommodation - what would a reasonable apartment/hotel cost on average?

2. food and beverage - what would you budget per day?

3. a tenerife sim card with wifi access

4. if one was using the phone reasonably to set up appointments etc, how much would you be spending on airtime a day roughly?

5. I have the rates for car rentals but I was wondering how much you would spend roughly per day on petrol if you were required to travel round the island each day.

Internet connection Playa de San Juan

Hi,

I am travelling to Tenerife in February for a whole month and need to be connected to Internet as I will be working there. Could you recommend me any provider? I expect it will cost something, of course, but if I used my mobile connection from my homeland provider it would be too much expensive... I need to work from home, so it should be a wifi provider preferably but I will welcome any other idea... I will need some 3 GB per month and will stay in Playa de San Juan.

My Husband & I are both now working with contracts so paying into the social, but I do not know how to get a Health Card or what paperwork is required to register with a doctor. My wife and I have been living in Tenerife for ten months now. We have both got our NIEs and registered with the social security and the Town Hall.
We now need to know how to go about registering with a GP. We went to the health centre in Las Galletas today and they asked us to do something in Granadilla. As our Spanish is still poor we are unsure of what to do.

Emigrating to Tenerife

I'm currently a resident of the UK, but due to retire shortly. Having had several wonderful holidays in Tenerife, it occurs to me to sell up (when the time comes) and go to live there permanently. What I'd like to know is: why do so many people emigrate there, and then subsequently change their minds and return to the UK several years later? The obvious reason would be family ties, but what could the other reasons be?

I'm willing to learn Spanish, and would try to fit in with the community. The weather suits my clothes, and there's a whole island to explore. Please, if you know any downsides, could you let me know?

The area looks up and coming, but a lot of properties are being advertised as bank repossessions with huge discounts.

I am very interested in moving to Tenerife and have been considering all options open to me. As an avid sailor I like the idea of keeping my boat in Tenerife and would like to find out what mooring charges are there. Is there a harbour with mooring buoys that are cheaper than a marina? Would marinas allow people to live on their boats?

I am also interested in the laws regarding boat charter and what licences / qualifications are recognised in Tenerife. I am on a budget and could afford around £1000.00 per month.

I have also been considering buying a mobile home and living in a mobile home park. Would any of these ideas be possible of the budget I have?

Looks like a good deal but I am afraid of a scam. Basically I need someone trustworthy to see that it all goes smoothly. That there is an actual car (and not just a picture...) that the title is on the name of the seller, that he transfers it, and preferably to take the car and the key.
If this someone has any knowladge about the best way of shipping the car out of tenerife - all the better...

Me and my fiance have been given the opportunity to move to Tenerife (Costa Adeje) on the 18th feb 2018 by her dad who is taking over a bar from a friend of his who has became ill and can no longer run it themselves. Obviously, we both don't really know a lot about Tenerife and after days of research we are still no further forward. My questions if anyone can help are:

Hi there.
My husband and I recently made the permanent move to South Tenerife. We own our apartment, have our NIE numbers and are in the throws, with the help of our lawyer, of acquiring residency status in the next few days.
We have downloaded the TA1 form to enable us to apply for a social security number so we can (hopefully) find some part time work. Do we have to make an official appointment with the Social Security office to get this or do we just turn up with our documents and queue? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi John, many thanks for a great website.

We are planning to move to Tenerife next year and having gone through your 'Moving to Tenerife' page are happy we have the major decisions set out; we are learning Spanish, planning to go Summer 2022, we will rent our house out, sell our cars etc.

The one thing I would find very useful are some timing pointers for the key paperwork considerations, including NIE, Empadron etc. for such a move; so I can understand those things that might reasonably be done in advance from the UK, in advance but in person on an advance-visit to Tenerife, and those things only really possible once we've taken our one-way flight(!).
