Hi Frances,

I've come up with a few options.

Tenerife Insurance Services do pet insurance. Their head office is based in Las Chafiras and their yearly charge for dogs is 196 euros and cats 165 euros. You can find out more by visiting their site here.

Admiral Insurance in Los Cristianos insure pets for a yearly fee of 175 euros for dogs and 135 euros for cats. The animal must be registered with a vet and microchipped. You can phone them on (+34) 922 753912.

Mapfre also provide pet insurance and you'll need to visit their site here. It's all in Spanish, I'm afraid, so I can't vouch for anyone being able to speak English if you contact them.

I was going to suggest you ask a vet for advice, but, apparently, when people have done this, the vet seems to have no idea what they're talking about.

So, before you commit yourself to any insurance, be sure to verify with the company that vet bills are covered, which, after all, is the whole point of your question.
