Villa Adeje Car Rally

Every so often, Tenerife holds a car rally, where stretches of public roads are closed to normal traffic, allowing the souped-up cars of the competitors to negotiate these routes - featuring hairpin bends and hill climbs - at high speed.

One such is occurring this month, on Saturday 15th. The course begins in the Santiago del Teide area, descending the TF-82 Chio road, through Tamaimo into Los Gigantes. From there, onto the Guia de Isora road, near Playa Santiago. This section comprises some 18 kilometres. Finally, there is the challenging stretch from La Concepcion to Taucho.

Anyone can turn up and take their place along the route. Indeed, many do and the side of the course is always packed with spectators. If you decide to go, try to find a difficult bend to stand next to!

The Spanish Ladies' Open Golf Tournament

Tenerife has been hosting professional golf tournaments since 1964 and, this month, continues this tradition with the Spanish Ladies' Open.

It will take place at Golf Las Americas, a championship course that has been hailed as one of the finest in all of Spain.

Over 120 competitors are expected, from around 24 countries all over the world. They'll be competing for a prize of 350,000 euros.

It takes place over four days, from the 20th to the 23rd. The website for this event says that it is free entrance.

Tenerife Salsa Festival

Coincidentally, over exactly the same four days as the golf tournament above, is this event, which couldn't be more different.

It is a festival dedicated to the exciting Cuban dance style and, as well as including five parties, consists of dance workshops, beach and pool parties, plus the presence of international stars of this dance form.

It takes place at the Parbellon Municipal de Los Cristianos, which is the large sports centre on the dual carriageway leading from the large roundabout at the top of Los Cristainos into Las Americas. It promises to be an awesome four days.

So, just to recap, this is also 20th-23rd and tickets, for the full event, cost 70 euros and can be obtained by emailing latineventstenerife@gmail.com .
