Los Cristianos Carnival
Yes, folks, I have provisional information on the secretive Los Cristianos Carnival.
It is well known that Arona Council like (for some reason) to keep the dates of the Carnival a secret until the very last minute. However, as it's getting nearer and nearer the time, I've managed to come up with a couple of dates to be going on with.
On Sunday the 11th, there is the Gran Coso Parade. This is the big one and starts at Paloma Beach, near the Arona Gran Hotel and makes its way along the street up to the traffic lights, turning left towards the Cultural Centre.
Starting at 5pm, the theme for this year is "The Western" - as in "cowboys and Indians"!
So, put on your checked shirt and jeans and join in!
On Monday the 12th, we have the famous ceremony of the Burial of the Sardine. This curious event, featured in every Carnival, involves the carrying of a huge papier mache model of a sardine down to the beach, accompanied by men dressed as mourning widows (wailing their heads off), where it is set alight and there is a spectacular fireworks display.
This starts of at 8pm, from the Cultural Centre.

"History" - a show featuring the history of music
This is exactly what it says - a musical extravaganza covering the history of music over the ages.
Using an international collection of over 30 performers, classical music from the likes of Bach, Mozart and Beethoven is featured, right through to such modern acts as The Beatles, Queen, Abba and Michael Jackson.
It lasts for two hours and there are also acrobats, dancers and audiovisuals adding to the excitement.
The show is being performed, firstly, at the Magma Art and Congress building in Adeje, at 9pm on the 3rd of March, then at the Teatro Guimera, in Santa Cruz, at 8:30pm on the 10th of March.
