The Winter Music Festival
This is to be a new venture on the island and is its first festival dedicated to electronic music. Taking place in the Plaza del Cristo, in La Laguna, the intention is to make it an annual event.
On December 7th, then, there will be an electronic music extravaganza lasting an impressive 10 hours, kicking off at 5pm. Featured artistes are from many different countries, including Roachman, from the UK, Juan Magan from Spain and DJ Jonay from Tenerife.
Topping the bill will be Jaime Luis Gomez, otherwise known as "Taboo", from the Black Eyed Peas. He is currently working on a solo career and has chosen this festival to launch it.
Tickets, when available, will cost between 20 and 45 euros.

The Santa Cruz Christmas Market
The run-up to Christmas day in Tenerife isn't quite as frantic for last-minute present buying as it is in, say, the UK. All Spanish people traditionally hand over and receive their presents on Three Kings Day, which is January 6th (Epiphany).
However, if you're up in the area of the island's capital city during the days approaching the 25th, you could do worse than visit the traditional Christmas market. It first opens its stalls for business at 6pm on the 21st. Occupying an area on the Avenida just near Plaza de EspaƱa (where the Cabildo building is), it consists of sellers of examples of traditional handicrafts and such like.
There'll be stalls selling food, too. One item that is particularly typical of this time of year is the garrapiƱada. This Spanish term is simply applied to any nut that has been candied or caramelised. In this case, the nuts involved are almonds and are served hot, freshly coated with crushed almond and caramelised sugar - crispy and chewy at the same time!

The Christmas Day Concert
Another traditional event occurring in Santa Cruz is the classical music concert on the evening of the 25th. Taking place in the open air on the quayside by the Auditorio de Tenerife, this is a free event and tends usually to be a big affair.
It is performed by the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, with, maybe, guest musicians (last year, they were joined by the Mississippi Mass Choir!).
The concert kicks off quite late - 10pm - and lasts for two hours. At the conclusion of the performance, at just after midnight, there'll be a massive firework display.
Details of the actual programme of pieces being performed are, at the time of writing, unconfirmed.
