To give it its full title, the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Seņora de Candelaria is found on the Carretera del Rosario in Santa Cruz. It is a famous hospital and, during my stint living in Tenerife, I've known a few people with serious, chronic illnesses being transfered to this hospital - and successfully treated.
In the Urbanizacion San Eugenio in Adeje, this is a small private hospital. Alison had a broken rib treated there and her son had a gashed knee stitched. Very friendly staff.

This large hospital in the centre of Las Americas, also known as "The Green Hospital", is one I've stayed in for a couple of weeks. It is as good as any you'll find throughout the world and has interpreters standing by so that the doctors can communicate with you. It is one of several Hospiten hospitals throughout Tenerife.

The "Orden Hospitalaria de San Juan de Dios" is a religious order that has the aim of promoting research, training and assistance in the field of health.
They have this large hospital in Santa Cruz and, although its admin staff are all "brothers", the medical staff are all real consultants, doctors and nurses!
Found on Carretera General del Norte, Santa Cruz.

There are new hospitals being planned for completion in 2012 in both the north and south of the island. Designated "category 2" hospitals, they will have between 60 and 100 beds and will help alleviate the burden on existing hospitals.
The "category 2" label will enable them to deal with outpatients, which has always been a busy area, drastically reducing the infamous queues. They will also be able to deal with minor emergencies, thus reducing the load of the accident and emergency departments, which will be, thereafter, concentrating on urgent cases only.
