Starlights Bar Tenerife - the only cabaret venue in Costa del Silencio

Coral Mar Square is a very popular area in Coast del Silencio, consisting of three levels around an open-air terrace, containing a collection of bars, restaurants and shops. Its various establishments are mostly British and the area is frequented more by ex-pat and holidaying Brits.

There is street level, the upper level and a lower level, down some steps from the street and on this level is where Starlights Cabaret Showbar is to be found.

Billing itself as the only cabaret bar in Costa del Silencio, it is a comparatively young venue. It actually opened sometime during my stint on the island and quickly established itself as a quality live music venue.

The interior is quite tastefully appointed, with a rich, darkwood bar. A full range of drinks is on offer - but, due to the nature of the venue, no food. This, of course, doesn't include bar snacks, of which there is a comprehensive selection.

I must admit, on researching this venue, any representation on the Internet seemed to date from no later than 2010 - even the bar's Facebook page, so any information you're reading here may well be out of date.

From what I can gather, the bar features quality live cabaret several times a week.

In any event, if you're in the Costa del Silencio area, it would be worth checking it out, as customers' reports of their visit on various forums are, without exception, glowing.

The general consensus is that the bar is a very friendly place and customers tended to return to it throughout their holiday.

Here's how you find it. I'll give you directions from the TF-1 motorway.

Exit at junction 26 (Guaza/Las Galletas). From the south, take the second exit at the roundabout; from the north, this exit will send you in the wrong direction. Drive up the hill to the petrol station on the left and use it to turn round. Drive back down to the motorway, where the road will pass under it. Get in the left lane and take the second exit from the roundabout.

Now, you're on the road through Guaza. At the next roundabout, take the second exit. This will take you beyond Guaza and, eventually, you'll come to another roundabout, where you should take the third exit.

This is quite a long road and, at the end of it, turn left. This is the road passing through the village of Guargacho and you should watch out for a sign saying Costa Silencio to the right, which you should take.

Follow this road as far as it goes and, on the right, is Coral Mar Square. Go down the steps of the square to the lower level and Starlights Bar is on the left.
