Shenanigans Bar - excellent entertainment, cheap pricesShenanigans is a lively showbar situated on the right hand side of Patch, as you walk down towards the ocean. The venue is fortunate to have, in residency, a superb duo, featuring, to my mind, one of the best guitarists on the island. They are known as "Loony Tunes" and consist of Dave Dean on guitar (whom I know well from my time on the island) and keyboard player Freddy. They play anything and everything interspersed with a lot of humour and banter. The reason I'm so enthusiatic about Dave is that he's one of those guitarists who can reproduce exactly any solos found on records (being able to make up his own, too, I hasten to add). One time, when I saw him, he reproduced, note for note, the long guitar solo at the end of Hotel California. If any member of the audience can sing or play keyboards or guitar, the duo welcome them onstage. The entertainment is compered three nights a week by "Sexy Simon" who does an Elvis tribute, plus guest comperes the other nights. That's not all! There is also guest cabaret nightly, featuring many of Tenerife's top acts. You receive a warm welcome at the venue, with those holidaymakers returning (even from holiday to holiday) having their drinks orders remembered. I like that in a place. This is a friendly bar and the drinks prices aren't too bad either!
