Hi. If you check my site's page on death in Tenerife, it deals with the transportation of a loved one's ashes, by air. You'll need to revisit the Funeral Director who dealt with your Father's cremation and inform him of your intentions. He, hopefully, with be able to replace the metal casket with one that can be scanned by airport security - made of such a material as plastic. Also, I understand that a loved one's ashes can be transported as hand luggage as long as you inform the airline that you are carrying human remains.

As regards the scattering of the ashes when you reach the island, I can't see this being a problem. Best to check with the British Consulate in Tenerife, though, to make sure.

I have contacted the British Consulate in Tenerife to find out if it is possible to scatter ashes on the Island - and they didn't seem to know the answer! Any other suggestions?

Hi there, My granddad has recently passed away & wished for his ashes to be scattered here in Tenerife as he spent a lot of his life here. I have been informed that I require a licence in order to do this. However I am unsure of how to go about this - any ideas? My grandma is hoping to bring them with her when she visits me in December.
I'm currently living on the island & have had no luck with the authorities so I thought I would try on here. I have also been informed it is a £2000 fine if you are caught without the licence, is this correct? If so how do I get this licence??

Hi I am wondering if anyone out there knows the contact details of "Garden of Ashes" of San Luis in La Laguna which is in Tenerife.

I am trying to find out if we are allowed to scatter my sister's ashes in Tenerife but I just don’t seem to be able to get any proper information. Can anybody help me?

Hi
I am hoping to scatter my late husbands ashes in Tenerife when we visit in April. I understand we need a Special Licence to do so but no one seems to know where we get the licence from can anyone help please. I have been told it is not possible to do this in the Mount Teide National Park which was ideally where we wanted to do this, as my husband used to love to go star gazing there, but if we can find a suitable place nearby that would be great.

Would really appreciate any advice anyone can offer as I seem to be drawing a blank everywhere I turn.
