Situated in a nice part of Adeje, San Eugenio Alto, is this charming Italian restaurant. Specifically representing Genoa, the restaurant's name reflects this, as "Zena" is the local dialiect name for this Italian region.

From quite a colourful frontage, you enter a pleasant dining area, decorated quite rustically, with a profusion of hanging plants and separated into different areas by latticed screens.

As it is on the hill above Costa Adeje, the restaurant has pretty spectacular views and also overlooks the tennis courts of Tenis Sur.

Zena is renowned for its pizzas, which are authentically thin based and prepared using a traditional-style wood-fired oven.

Pasta is homemade and accompanies all the usual Italian staples - bolognese, carbonara, canelloni, lasagne.

Meat and fish/seafood dishes are well represented, too, with fillet and sirloin steak, chicken, sea bass, scampi and bream.

If you have room for a third course, there is a fine selection of homemade desserts, using the highest quality Belgian chocolate.

As you'd expect, the restaurant stocks some fine Italian wines, but, as befits Tenerife's and Spain's wine producing capabilities, the host country's vintages find a place in the wine cellar, too.

All staff are very friendly and offer a warm welcome.

In the evenings, the restaurant has very evocative soft lighting, so is ideal for an intimate meal for two.
