Power FM - a quality English radio station

Power FM was a big name in English language broadcasting in Tenerife. It started in 1995, very modestly, broadcasting only to the town of Los Gigantes and was based in the back of an electronics shop.

Two years on, the station was broadcasting to the entire south coast of Tenerife.

By 2001, its reach had spead to La Gomera and Gran Canaria and, a year later, included Lanzarote.

In the years that followed, the station increased its broadcasting range and its presence in the Canary Islands.

There were thirteen presenters by this point, many of whom were also live acts performing regularly in Tenerife bars and clubs. The station had secured the services of the likes of comedienne Katy Kennedy, singers Dion and Rick Porter, plus renowned compere, Val Richardson.

The station was sold in 2006 but kept on broadcasting. However, in 2010, it shut down.

Never fear, for, in 2012, the original team have got back together to relaunch the station, with a brand new line-up.

On air 24/7, the time is currently being covered by eleven presenters - all professional DJs and radio broadcasters - no Tenerife entertainers this time!

The team behind the reborn Power FM are determined to make it as good as it ever was.
