Pipo Cafe Tenerife - a Finnish establishment ideal for chilling out

Seeing the words "Finnish" and "food" together may conjure up images of things like pickled herrings, or even what may be Finland's national dish, sauteed reindeer, but, here in Tenerife, the food in this charming establishment is agreeably south European, with even a touch of Tex-Mex thrown in!

Pipo is very much an open-air establishment, situated in an enviable location right on the sea front, where diners can enjoy stunning views of the ocean.

Food is served all through the day, right up to midnight and the menu reflects its "cafe" persona.

There is a comprehensive selection of freshly home-made gourmet sandwiches, all with quality ingredients. A variety of salads is also available, so packed with ingredients, they are guaranteed to satify even the most hungry diner.

The "Tex-Mex" influence manifests itself with menu items such as chilli con carne and nachos with guacamole. The burger on offer, however, has to be the cafe's star item. Home-made, with 100% beef, it is reckoned by some to be the best on the island. (There is also a "veggie-burger" option.)

As far as drinks are concerned, there is a selection of smoothies, all made from fresh fruit - ideal for sipping as you chill out on the sea-view terrace. Come evening, you can avail yourself of a varied selection of cocktails.

Pipo is an ideal place to relax and, to add to the mood, you'll be able to listen to ambient, chill-out music. At the weekend, things liven up a little, with the presence of a DJ.

There are quite often fun theme nights, too, usually involving fancy dress.

This cafe has been established for many years and is frequented as much by locals as holidaymakers. That counts for a lot!

To find it, get yourself to the area near Starco, then cut through one of the pedestrian walkways leading down to the sea. Pipo will be down there - you'll soon spot it.
