I'd walked past the Manhattan Bar Los Cristianos on several earlier visits to Tenerife, but never included it on the nightlife page because it didn't seem to be featuring any live entertainment.

Then, on our latest visit in 2014, we were having a nosey inside the new Passarella commercial centre, which the bar is attached to and noticed an A-board detailing a full entertainment package for the bar.

So, on the nightlife page it now appears!

To be honest, I've never actually been in the place, but, from the outside, it looks quite stylish. There is a reasonably spacious terrace, which, as the Passarella is built on a hill, is raised up from road level.

I understand that the Manhattan Bar Los Cristianos opens at 10am, initially serving what have been described as excellent full English breakfasts, consisting of egg, bacon, sausage, beans, sauteed potatoes, accompanied by a glass of orange juice, and reasonably priced, too.

Later in the day, the restaurant offers a menu of typical British fayre - the burger and the spare ribs receiving much praise from diners.

The Manhattan Bar Los Cristianos, however, is primarily a sports and entertainment bar. Drinks are reasonably priced and there are numerous TVs dotted about the place, showing all the major sporting events. Staff will even to try to accommodate everyone's wishes when two events are being broadcast simultaneously, by showing one in one part of the bar and the second in the other.

Talking of staff, reports are that they are very friendly and welcoming.

Finally, we get to the evening and the bar presents a full entertainment package every night, featuring some of Tenerife's top acts. I'm not sure what time it starts, but it's probably either 9 or 10pm.

The Manhattan Bar is well worth a visit - at any time of day.

You find the bar as follows: Start from the mini-roundabout at the bottom of the hill from the hotel Sol Princesa Dacil, where Charly Bar is. Walk up the road taking you away from the sea. You'll eventually see it on the right. It's as simple as that!
