Las Raices Campsite - up in the northLas Raices campsite is located near the towns of La Esperanza and El Rosario, which are just south west of La Laguna. It is accessed by the road from these towns leading up into the mountains.
Covering an area of some 54,000 square feet, the site can accommodate up to 30 tents. There is fresh running water available, plus car parking. Unfortunately, there are no such luxuries as toilets or showers, nor does it have wheelchair access. There is, perhaps inevitably, a "recreation area". Like most others found at different campsites, it is open till 7pm in winter and 9pm in Summer. The phone number for the campsite manager is 922 524365. Unfortunately, this site cannot be accessed by public transport. In a car, you should set off from either La Esperanza or El Rosario (which, in turn, can be accessed from the TF-5 north motorway). The road to take is the TF-24. This will take you south, climbing a winding path into the mountains. Eventually, you'll see a signpost saying "El Teide" straight on and "Machado" and "Escuela Hogar" to the left. Stick to the straight on option - you're not far! In fact, after this junction, it'll be the next left turn you come to. Watch out for a small bar set amongst the trees - Bar Las Raices. The turn is shortly after that. Take this road to the left and you'll find the campsite along this road.
