La Estancia Tenerife - a superb five-star gourmet restaurant

La Estancia is one of Tenerife's top restaurants, specialising in haute cuisine in the French style - will a touch of Canarian influence thrown in.

Situated in a charming location about five minutes' drive out of Los Cristianos, you are ensured of a memorable dining experience.

Once voted the "Best Foreign Restaurant in the Canary Islands", the master chefs in the kitchen create works of art that it's almost a shame to eat.

But eat them you must - as they're delicious!

Staff are friendly and attentive and will escort you to your table on arrival. You can choose to sit inside the stylish dining room, or elect to dine al fresco.

There is a large "tent" area, which is decorated in Arab Bedouin style, then there is a more open terrace area, charmingly lit by small lamps - a very romantic setting in the evenings.

Dishes on offer are very upmarket and exotic. If you are a self-confessed gourmet, or simply want to try something different, this is the place for you.

On perusal of the menu, you'll be presented with some complimentary fish soup, with a selection of breads.

The menu features a set meal - of eight courses! - plus the a la carte.

The wine cellar is extensive, featuring fine vintages from France, Spain and the Canaries.

While you dine, you are likely to be entertained by a live jazz duo - saxophone and guitar, to provide an ambient, laid back atmosphere.

To find the restaurant, take the road out of Los Cristianos leading towards the motorway. Pass under the motorway and you'll see a sign for Arona, straight on. This road takes you up the hill out of Los Cristianos and you should eventually watch out for a sign for the restaurant. It's over to the left, but there's a weird one-way system, meaning that, at this point, you have to take a right fork, leading to a roundabout, then a road bending round, passing underneath the one you've just been travelling on. Keep on this road, you'll see the Regency Country Club on your left, then the restaurant soon after, on the same side.
