Iberia Pets Policy - their transportation of animals

Iberia pets policy. This airline is the one we used for our cat and dog when we first moved to Tenerife back in 1992.

Iberia aircraft

They state that, like most other airlines, that small pets can be transported with you in the cabin. I think it's better if you expect your pet to be put in the cargo hold.

The airline requires that the pet's container complies with all the required regulations outlined on the main "Pets" page. They also make the strange observation that you should tell the cabin crew that you have a pet in the cargo hold, so they can ensure that the temperature there is properly regulated.

Requirements for Travel

Iberia's policy for animal transportation requires you to have the following pets documents:

  • Certificate of "good health", indicating that they are healthy enough to travel, are free of communicable diseases and has been properly vaccinated
  • The proper documents for entering the destination country. These have been outlined on the "Pets" page

You also need to inform the airline about your pet at the time of booking so they can ensure that there is enough room in the hold.

Although, for nervous animals, Iberia strongly advise against use of a prescription sedative, they suggest, if necessary, the use of a natural calming agent and recommend one called "Happy Traveller".
