The Hotel Botanico is found in Puerto de la Cruz and is one of the best, if not the best in Tenerife and the Canary Islands. A member of the group of luxury hotels "The Leading Hotels of the World" since 1998, it offers accommodation with sophistication and elegance, in a tranquil setting.

Facilities include both rooms and suites, several high-class restaurants, a collection of leisure activities, such as the Oriental Spa Garden. Relaxation is the keyword for the Hotel Botanico. It is constantly maintaining and improving standards through an ongoing investment programme.

Rooms

The Hotel Botanico offers two types of room: a deluxe and a penthouse.

You'll find deluxe rooms confined to floors one to four and consist of a luxury bedroom with sitting and work space. There is an opulently appointed bathroom and a furnished balcony.

Penthouse rooms are situated on floor five and have exclusive access.

Suites

The Ambassador Junior suites are exclusively located in their own wing on floors one till four. They are very spacious with a combined lounge and bedroom, with luxury decor. There is a choice of one king or two twin beds and there is also a pullout sofabed for a possible third person. The large bathroom has a marble bath, separate shower and walk-in wardrobe.

Penthouse suites are located on the fifth floor with exclusive access and all have a terrace with spectacular views of the Orotava Valley and Mount Teide. The opulence of the decor is accentuated with fine materials such as Thai silk and tasteful pieces of art and antiques. They all feature a spacious lounge including dining area and a separate bedroom, from where the terrace is also directly accessible.

Two of these suites include a jacuzzi on the terrace. Another has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, making it suitable for up to four persons.

The Bill Clinton Suite is the most luxurious accommodation in the hotel. It is so-called, I presume, because the former US president once stayed there.

It occupies its own wing on the penthouse floor with exclusive access and has been used by Royalty, politicians and celebrities. The late Michael Jackson once stayed at the Hotel Botanico and it's a good bet that he was in this suite.

The pride of the hotel, it is superbly decorated in rich opulence, with Thai silk, rugs from the Royal factories in Madrid, and unique pieces of art and antiques. It is available with two or with three bedrooms, making it suitable for up to six persons. Each bedroom has its own large marble bathroom and a separate dressing room. It also boasts a spacious lounge with work area, an indoor jacuzzi, a private kitchen, reception areas and a dining room, suitable for up to ten people. Its wrap around terrace, accessible from all the suite’s rooms, offers stunning views of Mount Teide, the Orotava Valley and the Atlantic Ocean. It is truly one of the most sumptuous places to stay in Tenerife.

Restaurants

Hotel Botanico boasts five varied eating places, depending on your mood and what degree of formality you require.

The Oriental was opened in 1996 by Queen Sirikit of Thailand and offers a variety of Asian fine-dining. Cooking styles include Thai, Vietnamese, Malaysian, Indonesian, Chinese and Japanese, served in an elegant atmosphere.

There is a dress code for this restaurant. Gentlemen are requested to wear a shirt with a collar from May until September and a jacket from October to April.

Il Pappagallo offers classic Italian/ Mediterranean cuisine in an airy and Mediterranean atmosphere. The restaurant offers stunning views across Puerto de la Cruz to the Atlantic Ocean.

La Parilla is a more informal Andalucian-style restaurant offering Spanish and Canarian cuisine complimented by a selection of excellent regional wines. In Summer, al fresco dining is available on the pool terrace in the hotel gardens.

La Palmera Real is a daytime eatery found in the centre of the hotel’s subtropical gardens near the main swimming-pool. Situated in the open air, shaded by palm trees, it offers a range of options from a light bite to a full lunch. An extensive breakfast buffet is also available.

The Bar Hall serves coffee and tea together with light snacks such as pastries and sandwiches in a sophisticated setting throughout the day. There are impressive views of the hotel’s gardens and the area also houses an exhibition of Canarian art. In the evening, choose from a large selection of cocktails whilst enjoying quality live entertainment.

Leisure facilities

The Oriental Spa Garden, which is situated in its own garden within the extensive grounds of Hotel Botanico, has a team of highly trained therapists. All its facilities are exclusively accessible for hotel guests over 16 years old.

Facilities include indoor and outdoor heated pools, jacuzzis, Turkish baths and saunas, coupled with a variety of different massage therapies.

With a total of 20 Individual rooms for massage and treatments, the option of open-air Shiatsu and Thai massage in the Thai Pagoda, a private spa, a solarium and unisex hairdresser with manicure and pedicure, the Oriental Spa garden is the perfect place to pamper yourself.

Other leisure facilities include two floodlit tennis courts, a large putting green with bunker and driving range, billiards, table tennis and a free form swimming pool.

Hotel Botanico offers a free bus into Puerto de la Cruz.
