Excalibur Restaurant
- a "hidden gem"

The Excalibur is one of those “hidden gem” restaurants that, as yet, not many people know about. It was once the premises of another restaurant, called Strelitzia, which has now moved to central Los Cristianos. We were fans of that restaurant and ended up sampling the new one, Excalibur, just because we went there one night and found it had changed.

We weren’t disappointed. Receiving a very warm welcome, we were shown into the spacious dining area, where the restaurant manager, speaking a passable English, told us what the specials were (not featured on the menu). Just to warn you - you aren’t told the prices of these specials and they could turn out to be a bit expensive.

The staff are very friendly and service is good. The menu is typically Canarian and the food is excellent. There is an extensive choice of wine and there is a small room just off the dining room serving as a sort of wine storage area, which the waiter is only to happy to show you, so you can peruse the bottles and make a choice.

The place is popular with both locals and those ex-pats or holidaymakers that know about it. It is situated in Cabo Blanco, a small village about 15 minutes’ drive out of Los Cristianos. If in a car, you get yourself to the big roundabout at the end of Guaza, then turn left, going under the motorway and up the hill. Keep going till you come to another roundabout, take the third exit and, a few yards further on, you’ll see it on the left.

Every time we’ve been there, we’ve not booked and there’s been no problem, but, if you want to play it safe and make a reservation, the number is (+34) 922 720 818.
