El Lagar Campsite - nestling amongst the pine forestsThe El Lagar campsite is found east of Icod de Los Vinos, on the island's north coast.Most websites say that it's situated just off the Carretera de La Guancha, or TF-342, reached via the main motorway, TF-5. In reality, it's a bit more complicated. Okay, you get yourself on this TF-342 road off the motorway and stay on that winding road, through numerous small villages, for quite a while. You'll have to eventually turn right off this road, onto a road almost turning back on the road you're on. Just by this junction is a supermarket called La Patrona. The road itself has signs saying La Campana and Las Colmenitas. You have to stay on this road. Where you come across junctions, try to stick to the road that seems to be the main one. Eventually, you'll come across the Casa Forestal. The campsite is down a forest path to the right of this building. The campsite nestles within the pine forests and has certain basic amenities. Covering 5,800 square metres, it accommodates 30 people. There are four access points for fresh running water, a shower block containing eight showers, one restroom, car parking facilities and disabled accessibility. El Lagar also has the inevitable "recreation area", available up to 7pm in winter and 9pm in summer.
