Colon Beach Tenerife - quality dining, plus great entertainment

It has been going many years (indeed, I did a couple of nights there once) and, as recently as late 2010, was put under new management.

The premises were extensively refurbished, with a bigger kitchen, a new disabled toilet and extra staff taken on, all to ensure an even better experience for the customer.

When I say "right next to the beach", I'm not kidding. Take a few steps from the bar and you can jump down onto the sand! The beach in question is a fine one, too, offering customers first class views as they enjoy a drink or a meal.

The bar itself is quite open-air, with a light, airy aspect. It is open all day, everyday.

Because of the improved kitchen facilities, there is even more to offer on the menu. Colon Beach now offers a comprehensive selection of fresh seafood dishes, including, if you're after something extra special, lobster.

Food is served from 9am until late and you can avail yourself of either a snack or a full-blown three-course meal. There is also a kids' menu.

The bar offers a full entertainment programme every night.

Resident at this venue for many years is the duo Innuendo. Consisting of Les, from Barrow-in-Furness and Donna, from Dundee, they provide quality, easy listening entertainment from around 8:30pm.

Both of them have been involved in music for many years and can be guaranteed to set the mood of the night.

Come 10pm, there is the guest cabaret. A different top act appears every night, consisting of a selection of tribute acts.

Thereafter, Innuendo play on till around 11:30.

To find this bar, here are directions.

If in a taxi, get dropped off at Puerto Colon. You'll notice a sign at the entrance saying "Playa" (beach). Follow this till you reach the beach and you'll soon spot the bar.

In a car, travel along the main Avenida de España running through San Eugenio. You need to turn down a street directly opposite the entrance to San Eugenio Shopping Centre (you'll have the Temple Bar on your right). Follow this road down the hill, where you'll reach the entrance to Puerto Colon. Turn left here (sign for parking) and carry on down this street, passing through a short tunnel. Thereafter, keep bearing right all the time, till you reach the beach. Park wherever you can and look for the bar along there.
