CKs Bistro Los Gigantes - a charming informal British eatery

This charming, informal bistro, serving British cuisine, has been in existance for a good few years. Initially owned and run by husband and wife team, John and Tracy, it is, these days, under the jurisdiction of another partnership, Craig and Samantha.

They have carried on CK's tradition of offering quality, homemade British fare.

It says something for this eatery that, on Tripadvisor, it was voted the number one restaurant in Los Gigantes.

That said, don't be expecting a formal dining experience if you visit it. CK's offer a relaxed, cozy environment in which to enjoy superb dishes.

On entering the bistro, you'll be greeted by Sam, who runs front of house. Slaving away in the kitchen is her husband, master chef Craig.

It is at this point that we come to a unique feature of this restaurant.

There is, of course, all the usual British staples to be found on the menu - steaks, roast dinners, pies with various fillings and all types of fish. But, if you don't see what you want on the menu, you can tell Sam and they will be happy to go and buy the necessary ingredients and cook your specifically requested dish for you the next time you visit! Now that's got to be a big plus!

Another way that Sam and Craig surpass themselves in serving their customers is that they cater uncomplainingly for vegetarians - and vegans. Craig considers it a challenge to his culinary skills to produce equally tasty, excellent dishes to suit anybody with a diet restriction.

There is the usual excellent choice of drinks available, plus Sam mixes a mean sangria.

All in all, the atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly. Customers return time and again and are treated like old friends.

Directions:

This restaurant is in the Santiago del Teide area and this has a large one-way system. Travelling along this, in the direction of the traffic, watch out for the large Stil Los Gigantes Hotel, on the right. A little further on, on the left, you'll see the Bamboo Bar (one of the oldest bars in the area).

There's a narrow passageway to the left of this bar and CK's is just down there.
