Charly Bar - providing entertainment seven nights a week

Charly Bar, variously known as Charley's Bar or even Charlie's Bar, is a long established bar/restaurant in Los Cristianos.

Invariably, there is live entertainment on offer,  seven nights a week, from around 8-8:30pm till midnight.

This was a place I worked for a while, whilst part of a duo with a guitarist/vocalist. I can tell you, you certainly earn your money, as you never have a night off! (Unless, of course, you're sharing the venue with another act.)

For many years, the duo David and Elaine were a fixture at Charly Bar. Providing an evening of easy listening music, they were extremely popular with the customers.

Unfortunately, the last I heard, they had left the bar and returned to Ireland. It is not known if they will ever be back.

The next major act taking over the venue was veteran keyboard player, Mike Edwards, who occasionally took one or two nights off, allowing other acts to stand in for him.

However, on my last walk past the bar (May 2014), I discovered that the Charly Bar management have rung the changes again. This time, rather than one main resident act, the entertainment is made up of a variety of artistes.

Sunday/MondayStorm (boy/girl duo)
TuesdayLisa Bridge (pop, rock, Motown)
WednesdayBig Chris (all genres)
Thursday/FridayA2 (boy/girl duo)
SaturdayBig Chris plus Elvis show

Charly Bar has an extensive menu, including, for early risers, a full English breakfast. So, you may also call in just for a drink, a snack, or indulge in a full-blown meal.

As you can deduce from the full breakfast option, the bar is open all day. Prices are pretty reasonable and, don't forget - the evening entertainment is free!

To find this venue, aim for the Hotel Arona Gran. As you get to the bottom of the hill, you'll see it on your left, on the corner by the roundabout.
