Bowls is a game associated with the more mature person as it appears quite gentle and not too physically demanding. It does, however, require a lot of skill and has become more popular in recent years with younger people.
It also provides an excellent opportunity for a convivial social gathering.
There are three venues for the genteel sport of bowling in Tenerife.
WINTER GARDENS
Winter Gardens is described as a Luxury International Bowling Complex. With its own hotel providing bowling holidays, it is found on the Golf del Sur urbanization.
From the main TF-1 motorway, leave at the Las Chafiras exit (junction 24) and follow the Los Abrigos signs. You negotioate a roundabout, then straight after, there is a right turn. Take this and you'll see the sign for Golf del Sur.
This urbanization eventually becomes one-way and, if you take this, you'll arrive at Winter Gardens on your right, just after Parque Albatros.
This venue has excellent bowling facilities, with eight rinks for flat-green bowling. There is a reception where you can hire all the necessary bowling equipment.
Winter Gardens is fully wheelchair-friendly, with ramp access to all areas.
An on-site bowling co-ordinator can organise competitive matches, tournaments, lessons, a fun morning with barbecue, plus evening leagues.
There is the Last End bar, found next to the greens, offering drinks and snacks to be enjoyed while you play.

This is a sporting complex found at Puerto de la Cruz and has been established for over a century.
With a name like that, you'd think it would have a major internet presence, but no. The British Games Club doesn't appear to have a website. The following information is the most I can come up with.
The British Games Club, apparently, is a part of Alvaro's Tennis Club, at Jardines La Quintana in Puerto de la Cruz. They originally had their own premises, but were required to move. The bowling greens provided are astroturf.
The complex has its own bar/restaurant.
That's all there is, I'm afraid. For more information, you'll need to telephone the club.
Whenever Alison's Dad visits Tenerife (staying in her apartment), he usually finds time to pay a visit to Happy Days Bowls and Tennis Club.
This establishment is found in Costa del Silencio, in the area known as Garañaña.
There are six separate bowling areas plus a clubhouse.
