Blaydon Races Tenerife - a hugely popular bar

Blaydon Races Tenerife is a very popular cabaret bar in the heart of the Patch. Over the years, however, it has had quite a varied history. (And continues to do so - see up-to-date announcement below.)

Since its inception, a good few years ago, it became one of the most "go-to" bars in Las Americas, supplying good family entertainment and friendly staff.

The bar was blessed with the presence of the excellent drag act "Roxy Risque" as compere, who also performed a full act there twice a week. After three years of this, however, Roxy decided to leave and go onto the cabaret circuit.

It was after that (sometime in 2009) when the bar seemed to start to experience difficulties, with rumours of it closing down. Eventually, ownership changed hands a couple of times.

Finally, Roxy returned, took over the bar herself and renamed it "Roxy Risque's Blaydon Races".

Apparently, some time in the middle of 2012, Roxy left the bar to perform at various other venues round the island. Presumably, then, the bar's name reverts back to plain old "Blaydon Races".

The bar is open every night except Fridays, 9pm till late. It tends to get packed out, so be early if you want a seat.

Every night, the bar features top Tenerife cabaret acts. The whole thing is compered by Ray King, who also runs karaoke and quizzes.

To find Blaydon Races, you walk down the Patch heading towards the ocean, then, immediately after the Drunk 'n' Duck bar to your left, take some stairs going up to the first floor. You'll soon see the bar.

Many customers - children to grandparents and everyone in between - revisit Blaydon Races time and time again. Now that's a recommendation!
