The Arona Gran Hotel - a touch of luxury in downtown Los Cristianos

The Arona Gran Hotel was built during the 1990s, at the time that I lived in Tenerife - I was able to witness its construction. Still looking relatively new, it provides luxurious accommodation at the far end of Los Cristianos, near the landmark Costamar tower.

Arona Gran Hotel Los Cristianos

The position of this hotel places it just outside the absolute centre of things. The area is comparatively quiet, yet within five minutes' walk, you can find bars and restaurants aplenty.

If you walk along the seafront from the hotel, you arrive in the centre of Los Cristianos very quickly.

On entering the Arona Gran, you are in the impressive lobby area - a huge cavernous space decorated tastefully in a modern style and adorned with many hanging plants. The lobby bar is situated there and, in the evenings, there is a pianist in residence, playing soft background music to accompany your drink.

ACCOMMODATION

There are 391 double rooms and 12 "junior suites", over six floors.

Standard facilities include

  • private bathroom
  • telephone
  • air conditioning
  • local TV
  • satellite TV channels
  • mini-bar or fridge
  • safety deposit box
  • hair dryer
  • piped music
  • terrace or balcony

RESTAURANTS AND BARS

There is one restaurant, with air conditioning. As well as dinner, it serves breakfast, in the form of a serve-yourself buffet.

There is also a cafe and a bar.

FACILITIES

In the large area behind the hotel, overlooking the ocean, you'll find three swimming pools, plus one children's pool.

There is a hairdresser, a beauty salon and the hotel also has its own arcade of upmarket shops.

The hotel also features a nightclub.
